Holland America Line presents its newest 12-deck cruise ship named Koningsdam. The name of the ship continues the cruise line's tradition with the suffix “dam” and pays tribute to His Majesty King Willem-Alexander, the first king of the Netherlands.

The CEO of the company described Koningsdam as: “This new Pinnacle-class ship will be our largest and most modern vessel, which we have tried to reflect in its name.”

And it truly is a new type of cruise liner for Holland America Line. With a displacement of 99,500 tons and a capacity of 2,650 guests and 1,025 crew members, the ship is the largest ever built by the Dutch company. The liner features many new public areas that are spacious, as well as several innovative features.

To ensure the new liner is truly elegant and modern, Holland America Line enlisted the help of two remarkable specialists: Adam D. Tihany, one of the world's leading designers, and designer and architect Bjørn Storbraaten, who has already showcased his talents in creating the Nieuw Amsterdam and Eurodam liners.

Koningsdam is characterized by spacious areas filled with light, flowing elegant surfaces and lines, a complex interplay of high technology and elegance, and beautiful architectural elements. The interior of the liner combines fresh, modern design in harmony with the traditional classic elegance of Holland America Line. Describing the liner, Tihany states that the architecture of Koningsdam was inspired by music.

“In creating the interiors of this ship, we aimed to use graceful lines, dramatic textures, lighting effects, and high-quality materials. I tried to bring volume and airiness to all spaces, so that no matter which cabin a guest stays in, they will feel a special atmosphere.”
