Cruises from Lutsk
Published: 2 min read
Lutsk is located close to one of the main crossing points on the Polish border, toward Yahodyn, and this noticeably simplifies the first part of the road to a cruise. The liner, as always, waits not at home but in Barcelona, Venice, Civitavecchia, Genoa, or Piraeus, where MSC, Royal Caribbean, Norwegian, Costa, and Celestyal passengers fly, but the road to the border itself is easier for people here than for residents of most other regions. Buses toward Yahodyn, and then toward Lublin and Warsaw, run regularly, and it is exactly this route that a significant part of Volyn residents use when heading to Europe. From Lublin or Warsaw the usual choice of flight connections to Mediterranean ports already opens up, with the two Warsaw airports, Chopin and Modlin, offering the most connections. The main advantage of this route is that almost the entire way to the departure airport can be covered by ground transport without intermediate transfers: one bus or transfer can take you from Lutsk practically to the airport itself. This does not cancel out border queues, which happen from time to time even on busy directions, so it is always better to allow a small time buffer before departure. When planning the trip, compare the bus schedule to Lublin and Warsaw in advance, especially in season, when popular departures can sell out ahead of time. The detailed route through Yahodyn is described in the article "How a Ukrainian can get on a cruise: the road to the port."

Which crossing point is more convenient for people from Lutsk to use?
The nearest and most popular direction remains the Yahodyn crossing point, from where buses toward Lublin and Warsaw run regularly.

In many cases yes: buses and transfers toward Warsaw often take passengers practically to the airport itself, without needing to switch separately within the city.
How much time should I allow for the road from Lutsk to the port of embarkation?
The ground segment here is one of the shortest among Ukrainian cities, but together with the border, connection, and flight, it is still worth planning for at least a day.
Do I need a visa for a trip through Yahodyn?
Requirements depend on citizenship, so check them in advance on the official embassy or consulate website, and make sure your passport stays valid for the whole trip.
Which European port is most convenient to choose from Lutsk?
Thanks to the proximity to Warsaw, flights are available in all the main directions: Barcelona, Venice, Civitavecchia, Genoa, or Piraeus. Choose the port depending on the cruise route.
