MSC Cruises has published footage of MSC World Asia at the Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard in Saint-Nazaire, France. The company invited viewers behind the scenes of preparations for the new ship, which will begin cruises in the Mediterranean in winter 2026.
In an official Instagram post, MSC shares a look at the ship’s future spaces taking shape. The first photo in the carousel shows the ship in dry dock: the stern, rows of balconies and the lower part of the hull, which will be underwater while sailing, are visible.
The post offers a glimpse of the ship before it welcomes passengers. However, it does not announce the completion of construction or the handover of the ship to the cruise company.
First season in the Mediterranean
MSC World Asia belongs to the World Class series. Despite its name, its initial itinerary features European voyages: the official MSC page lists Mediterranean cruises visiting Spain, France, Italy, and Malta. Departures are listed for sale starting 4 December 2026.
One example of a winter itinerary is a seven-day cruise from Barcelona 18-25 December 2026. The route includes Marseille, Genoa, Civitavecchia, Messina and Valletta, as well as one day at sea before returning to Barcelona.

DetailsFor travelers, this is an opportunity to get to know a new ship and explore Mediterranean cities during the winter season. When planning shore excursions, it’s worth taking travel times into account: visiting Rome from Civitavecchia requires a separate trip.
What is being prepared for passengers?
Among the announced spaces on MSC World Asia are the family area The Harbour, a pan-Asian restaurant and an indoor pool. The company also announces children’s play areas, water slides, and various categories of cabins and suites.
Shipyard footage offers a glimpse into the liner’s preparations for its first season. Details of a specific sailing, the availability of entertainment, and included services should be checked at the time of booking.
